About this Event

Join us for our November meeting for three short presentations from our network members on (i) shipment of laboratory samples (ii) new stem cell culture techniques and (iii) laboratory incubator management

  • Transporting Your Biological Samples During Brexit and Beyond - Karen Coyle, Biocair
  • Combinatorial culture technology for cell and gene therapy applications - Marina Tarunina, Plasticell
  • Unit DX incubator, growing the scientific ecosystem in the West of England - Ashley Brewer, Unit Dx

Karen Coyle from Biocair, the experts in domestic and international shipping of laboratory samples, will inform us on how best to pack and ship a range of lab samples from dry powders to human samples from ambient to frozen. Additionally, Karen will help us to understand customs regulations and the documentation required for shipping samples in the UK, EU, and the rest of the world, especially in a post-Brexit world.

Plasticell have incorporated combinatorial technologies to develop a unique cell culture approach for the precise manipulation of stem cells which has been recognised by a Queen's Award for Innovation. Hear from Marina Tarunina on how the technology is pushing the boundaries of regenerative medicine.

Unit Dx goes from strength to strength in incubating start-ups and spin-outs at its rapidly growing laboratory facilities in Bristol. Hear from Ashley Brewer about the challenges of managing a multi-tenant facility and how it is expanding its offering in the west of England.
