Join us for a truly special day as we celebrate 50 incredible years of the UK Butterfly Monitoring Scheme (UKBMS) – one of the worlds longest-running invertebrate monitoring schemes!

Since 1976, thousands of passionate volunteers have contributed to the UKBMS and the scheme now monitors butterflies on 4,000 sites each year. This milestone is all thanks to you – the community that made it possible!

Whats in store?

  • Inspiring talks from top butterfly experts
  • Discover how UKBMS data is used to protect butterflies and support conservation efforts
  • Hands-on clinics and a workshop with the UKBMS team – ask us anything!
  • Meet and mingle with fellow volunteers and butterfly enthusiasts
  • Explore the latest findings and insights uncovered by the UKBMS data
  • A celebration of your role in 50 years of butterfly monitoring

Whether you’re a UKBMS volunteer, site manager, conservation NGO, statutory body, butterfly researcher, Scheme partner, funder or just curious about butterflies – this event is for you!

The event is free, but please book your place as spots are limited.

The UKBMS is a partnership between Butterfly Conservation, the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (UKCEH), the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) and the Joint nature Conservation Committee (JNCC).
