Event description

Description

Lucideon, the materials development and commercialisation organisation, is hosting a workshop organised in collaboration with the UK Chapter of the American Ceramic Society. It will take place on the 16th May at Lucideon’s headquarters in Stoke-on-Trent. The workshop will be focused on “Ceramics Additive Manufacturing” in which by fostering knowledge exchange, academics, businesses and government will discuss the latest developments and opportunities in additive manufacturing for ceramic materials, including a round table discussion about how the interaction between academia and businesses could speed up innovative solutions and route them to market.

The context of this workshop links well with the recently announced UK Government priority from its modern Industrial Strategy in manufacturing;

  • Made Smarter challenge about enhancing performance and productivity of UK manufacturers by digital technologies implementation, in which additive manufacturing is one of the 5 areas targeted to have an impact in manufacturing the future.

The workshop will include cutting edge presentations from leading figures in academia and business, with case studies on how additive manufacturing in ceramics is being, and could be used, to bring about performance and cost benefits.

Early career researchers will also have the opportunity to present their recent developments to manufacturers in a poster session and let them know about their ideas for the future of the manufacturing sector. In addition, attendants will have the fantastic opportunity to enrol in a tour of Lucideon’s facilities.
