A unique opportunity to hear HE policy makers discuss Global Challenges, Partnerships and Research Excellence in World Class Universities.

About this Event

The theme of this years Round-table is ‘Global Challenges, Partnerships and Research Excellence in World Class Universities’. There will be two panels with one chair and 4 Presidents from universities in the UK and China. Each President will give a speech and this will then be followed by a panel discussion.

Panel One: Diversity and Equality

Student Support Services: supporting a diverse and international academic community.

Chair: Alan Percy, Head of Counselling Service at University of Oxford.

  • Chinese Embassy, UK: Minister Counsellor Wang from Education Section
  • Oxford University : Professor Rebecca Surender, Advocate and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Equality and Diversity)
  • Jilin University: Professor Cai Li, Vice President of University Council.
  • Kings College London: Professor Nicola Phillips, Vice President/Vice-Principal (Education)

Panel Two: Overseas Research Centres and Collaborations

Exploring the role and impact of overseas or off-campus research centres and partnerships.

Chair: Ed Nash, Senior Strategy Officer at University of Oxford.

  • Beijing Normal University: Professor Zhou Zuoyu, Vice President
  • Cardiff University: Professor Nora de Leeuw, Pro Vice-Chancellor for International and Europe
  • The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology: Professor Charles Wang-Wai Ng, Associate Vice-President for Research and Development
  • Edinburgh University: Professor Natascha Gentz, Assistant Principal for China
