Description

Join us on Tuesday 25th of April at 18.20, at the Permanent Representation of Ireland to the EU, where we will have a discussion on the UK General election and Brexit with John Palmer and Lucinda Creighton.

UK Prime Minister Theresa May has called for a general election on 8 June, claiming that it is “necessary to secure the strong and stable leadership the country needs to see us through Brexit and beyond”. In her announcement, she framed the snap election as a vote on each of the parties’ vision for Brexit, telling everyone to “put forward [their] plans for Brexit… and then let the people decide”. The call for an election was voted through the UK Parliament by MPs by 522 votes to 13 on the 19th of April.
