Celebrating 15 years of driving industry growth

About this Event

Over the last 15 years, the UK Light Rail Conference has grown into the industry’s leading gathering for sharing knowledge and best practice, bringing together over 250 delegates from across the industry to shape the future of the light and urban rail sector.

Since 2005 we have welcomed delegates from over 20 countries as the event has moved around the UK, showcasing innovation, new projects and products that have transformed urban mobility.

With two parallel conference streams, the UK Light Rail Conference covers topics such as on urban development strategies; sustainability and the environment; the growing role of digital; innovative vehicle and construction methodologies; signalling, infrastructure and depot innovation; safety, security and risk management; and new product launches.

The conference is also co-located with a busy exhibition from some of Europe’s leading transport product and service providers.

The mood of the Conference in 2019 was summed up event chair Ian Brown CBEin his closing remarks on the second day, saying that the lively debate marked “a turning point for the industry. We’ve all got a lot to look forward to.”

Matt Johnston,Managing Director of Mainspring, added: “We saw a far greater level of interaction at the 2019 UKLRC with the debates continuing into the early hours at the event’s informal networking sessions.

“The role of technology is increasingly evident – in improving the passenger experience, as well as in how we plan, design, construct and operate both new and existing tramways and light rail systems. The voice of the supply chain also proved more relevant than ever as events such as this play a crucial role in enhancing the sharing of experience as we all look to a bright future for rail-based urban mobility.”
