Description

Asbestos Awareness training is mandatory for those who are likely to come into contact with Asbestos Containing Materials, such as construction industry workers who may disturb the fabric of buildings, people who work on contaminated land and anyone maintaining a building that may be affected by asbestos use.

Franks Portlock Consulting Ltd is a Sunderland-based asbestos management company, who deliver accredited UKATA Asbestos Awareness training, ensuring that participants are trained in compliance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. Successful delegates will receive a UKATA certificate of training which is valid for one year.

We are offering a comprehensive, ½ day, UKATA Asbestos Awareness training session at a discounted price of £20 and all course fees from the day will be donated to Grace House children’s charity in Sunderland, which provides a fun, safe and exciting environment for children and young people from across the North East, with complex disabilities and health needs.

What will you learn?

  • Have an increased awareness of the nature and properties of asbestos and its effects on health, including the increased risk of lung cancer for asbestos workers who smoke

  • Be familiar with the types, uses and likely occurrences of asbestos in buildings and where appropriate items of plant

  • Know how to avoid the risks from asbestos by understanding

  • Where to obtain information on asbestos in premises prior to commencing work

  • What to do if suspicious materials are found

  • How to use appropriate workplace precautions, including the risk assessment process, or seek advice on workplace precautions, in respect of the risks of asbestos

  • Undertake work activities in a safe manner and without risk to yourself or others

  • Have an awareness of the key aspects of the asbestos regulations and how they fit into the broader context of health and safety legislation

  • Procedures to be followed when coming into unintentional contact with ACM’s and an understanding of the appropriate emergency arrangements

Who is this course aimed at?

This course is aimed at Tradespeople, Maintenance Personnel or anyone who may come into contact with asbestos.

Will I receive a Qualification?

Yes! All Delegates who successfully pass the assessment exam will receive a UKATA certificate of training which is valid for one year.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Delegates must be 18 years or older to attend

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

There is free parking at the venue

What can I bring into the event?

Due to the location (Grace House welcomes children and young people from across the North East with complex disabilities), recording devices are not allowed. However, please bring any notepads/books/pens as required.
