UKPN Open Source Energy Data - what's useful for CE groups
Event Information
About this Event
UKPN have launched their Future Energy Scenarios programme: which sets out a range of predictions about how we reach net zero. As part of that they have created an Open Source energy data site that is freely available to anyone to use. The system can be accessed here: and is going live next week.
As the DNO responsible for power distribution across much of the UK, the company's forecasts about 17 different technology take ups across the region will inform their business development and consequently the development of low carbon projects across the region in our race to Net Zero..
With access to good data, we can make clearer decisions and goals about the best way our communities can reduce carbon emissions.
This event will show participants how to use the "Open Source Data forecasting" system to obtain data to inform our propopsed projects.
Colin Nicholl will take us on a whistlestop tour so participants can see the best places to set up EV projects, Heat pump projects, District Heating schemes and others. Thes UKPN forecasts are based on months of research into the dominant interests, constraints and political leadership of local authorities, topography, network access, market readiness of technologies and more.
At the end of the session you will know how to use the system that will go live next week. You should also have a clearer idea about what would be the most suitable projects to take forward in your area.
Plus - it's always handy to have a good contact or two within the DNO.
This session may assume some prior experience of creating renewable projects, but we will work to make it as accessible as possible for all - so do come however experienced you are. It might just prompt your group to think about projects in a different way - and come up with something better suited for your area.
Good decisions are based on good data, so come and find out more.
