UKRI CDT in Safe and Trusted AI - Information Session
Event Information
About this Event
Are you interested in becoming an expert in methods of safe and trusted artificial intelligence? Kings College London and Imperial College London have twelve fully-funded PhD studentships to start in September 2021.
Register for this online information session (10 March 2021 at 14.00 GMT) to find out more about the programme and the application process.
About Us The UKRI Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Safe and Trusted Artificial Intelligence (STAI) brings together world leading experts to train a new generation of researchers.
What we offer
We offer a unique four-year PhD programme, focussed on the use of symbolic AI techniques for safe and trusted AI, providing an explicit language for representing, analysing and reasoning about systems and their behaviours. An AI system is considered to be safe when we can provide some assurance about the correctness of its behaviour, and trustworthy if we have well-placed confidence in its decision making. Explicit models can be verified and solutions based on them can be guaranteed as safe and correct; and they can provide human-understandable explanations and support user collaboration and interaction.
You will engage in various training activities alongside your individual PhD project, both in state-of-the-art AI techniques and in ethical, societal, and legal implications of AI in research and industrial settings. Through engagement with our diverse range of industrial partners, you will be exposed to the different experiences, challenges, and technical problems involved in both start-ups and large corporations. You will graduate as an expert in safe and trusted AI, able to consider the implications of AI systems, to recognise this as a key part of the AI development process and equipped to meet the needs of industry, academia, and the public sector.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in one of the fastest growing research areas. A recent UK government report estimated that AI technologies could add £630 billion to the UK economy by 2035, but we need skilled individuals who can address challenges in safe and trusted AI.
Next studentship application deadline is 21 March 2021. Begin your application now!
We look forward to meeting you at the online information session on 10 March.
