Our Ultimate Caving trips bring the aspiring explorer on a very special journey indeed, deep beneath the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Awesome underground streamways, waterfalls, airy traverses, climbs and vertical drops.....you'll encounter everything on this caving trip!!!
Meeting at our premises near Stainforth, your instructor will get you kitted out in all the required equipment before departing for the caves. The caving trip will last much of the day, and whereas our Adventure Caving session tackles one vertical section (called a pitch), the Ultimate Caving trip will descend much deeper into the cave system, taking on several vertical sections and giving a real sense of what 'Potholing' is, within the finest region in the UK for vertical caving!
At one of our venues, you will visit 'The Bridge' - a huge boulder wedged across the spectacular, 60m deep, Alum Pot main shaft, after an impressive journey in via the Long Churn Caves. At another venue called Sell Gill Holes, three pitches up to 14m deep lead to a huge underground cavern with 40m waterfall crashing in!
For some more advanced venues, the day might start with a quick course in abseiling in our very own purpose built vertical caving training facility (see photo below)!
Ideally you would have tried caving before (and so know you love it!), but its not essential.....all you need to be is fit, up for a challenge, and with a good head for heights!

Please note that the sun doesn't always shine in the Yorkshire Dales, and we cannot offer refunds in the event of a cancellation due to particularly adverse weather conditions. However, we do have a range of excellent and exciting venues we can use and so we will do our very best to choose a suitable venue for the day in the event of bad weather.
