About this event
Ulverston Festival Chorus
Anastasia Micklethwaite, director
Andy Plowman, organ

Jess Dandy, contralto
We celebrate Coronation Day with this special concert drawing on favourite British choral music used in the actual Coronation ceremony inclduding Parry’s I Was Glad, Tallis’ If Ye Love Me,Howells’ Like As the Hart , and Handel’s Zadok the Priest.
The celebration of the best of British continues in the second half with Elgar’s wonderfully evocative Sea Pictures (what could be more aptly British as a seafarer nation) sung by contralto Jess Dandy. Britten’s ever-popular choral work Rejoice in the Lamb brings the concert to a resounding conclusion.
As the music and commemorations draw to a close, the town will light a beacon on Hoad Hill at 9.45pm.
