UMaine Dance Team Fall Dance Day
The University of Maine Dance Team is excited for our annual "Fall Dance Day" which will happen this year on Saturday, November 5th! Dancers in grades 3-12 will have the opportunity to perform with the University of Maine Dance Team and Marching Band during halftime of the Maine versus Villanova football game!
This is slightly different than the annual dance clinic that we hold during the winter (which we will again this year, date is yet to be determined). Instead of a full day of dance instruction like at the clinic, all dance participants will learn ONE dance routine that will be performed at halftime with the UMaine dancers and marching band. This year, dancers will have a chance to learn the routine via an online video prior to the game (the video will be available October 23rd). There is no charge for the mandatory practice that morning and all dancers performing will receive FREE admittance to the football game! It is an awesome, free opportunity for your child to perform with hundreds of people from across the state of Maine and the UMaine Dance Team!
We will provide more detailed information about the dance day performance prior to this event to those who sign-up, but here is an idea of how the day will work:
Check-in will be from 7:30-8am in the Mahaney Dome (directions and map of campus will be posted prior to the event). We will begin practicing the routine for halftime together promptly at 8am. They style of dance will be jazz. At approximately 8:50am we will move over to the football field to practice the routine with live music! Our practice on the field will finish at 9:45am where you can pick up your child. The football game begins at 12pm!
For the halftime performance we will ask dancers to wear some sort of black dance pants (or leggings) and a top that represents your dance studio (for example, if you have a studio jacket, sweatshirt, etc.). If you don't have a studio top, you could wear a University of Maine top. Remember we will be dancing outside so your child may want to dress in layers.
Information about admission to the game for families is available on goblackbears.com or by calling (207)581-BEAR. (Group ticket rates are the best way to go!) Remember, dance participants receive free admission and will be sitting right in front of where the Dance Team performs throughout the game.
On behalf of the entire University of Maine Dance Team, we are super excited to have the opportunity to perform with your child during our football season! Spread the word to any dancer you know in grades 3-12 as well! Don't forget to register by the October 30th deadline! As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Please check back to this event page or the facebook event page for updated details and information as the date of the performance comes near!
