Unapologetically Baroque: The Bad Bitches of the Era

Come join us at Port Independent to learn about the forgotten women of the Baroque movement.

The Baroque period was one of opulence, excess, and passion—but many of its key female figures have been overlooked by history. Unapologetically Baroque dives into the lives and works of the bold, daring women who helped shape this decadent era in art. From visionary artists to powerful muses, discover their stories and the art they left behind.

Hosted by artist and curator Liv Askwith, whose work explores hyper-femininity and draws deeply from the well of art history.

Pink-Collar Gallery CIC is an art organisation dedicated to the promotion of women and working-class people and using art to promote equality, working in the North East with Sunderland being our base. We want to address the emplacement in the arts, to support and develop working-class artists. We have developed workshops, creative talks and mentoring sessions. Currently, we don't have a permanent gallery space so we pop-up exhibitions in the North East spaces including Otto cafe, 17nineteen and local community centres. Our exhibitions focus on the underrepresentation of women in the arts and championing working-class identity. We aim to help emerging creatives of all ages wanting to work and develop their practice in the North East.
