Event description

Description

Unblocking the Blocks is a two-day weekend masterclass for people in Argyll and Bute who have started to write or are engaged in a creative writing project that they are finding challenging. Led by writer Nicola White, the masterclass will look at strategies and exercises for freeing up your creativity and dealing with the things that get in the way of your writing - whether external distractions, inner fears, technical challenges or a lack of resources and support.

The masterclass will combine discussion and practical writing exercises in an encouraging and easy-going atmosphere. The base of Cove Park's Artist Centre provides a choice of spaces for writing, reflection and group discussion. There will also be time for short one-to-one sessions with Nicola on the Sunday. A group evening meal will be provided at 17:00 on the Saturday.

"Everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise. The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt." Sylvia Plath

Former Cove Park resident Nicola White is an award-winning writer of fiction and creative non-fiction. Her Novel 'In the Rosary Garden' won the Dundee International Book Prize and she is a recipient of the Scottish Book Trust's New Writer Award. Her short stories have been widely published and also broadcast on radio.

The minimum age requirement for this event is 18. Please note, we offer a full refund if you cancel your place at least 14 days prior to the course start date, after this a refund is unavailable unless in exceptional circumstances or we cancel the event.
