Event description

Description

Remembering Srebrenica is pleased to welcome Baroness Sayeeda Warsi, one of the most senior and influential British Muslim politicians in history, to speak about her journey through politics from the child of Pakistani immigrants to the first Muslim to serve in the Cabinet. A racial justice campaigner for many years, Baroness Warsi has constantly fought for the rights of minority groups and during her time in Government, established a number of projects which sought to counter all forms of hatred; including the Remembering Srebrenica initiative.

In this event, we will explore questions of cultural difference, terrorism, surveillance, social justice, religious freedom, integration, the meaning of ‘British values’ and the importance of learning from Srebrenica to tackle prejudice and hate in society today. We will discuss ways in which we can challenge extremism in all its forms, tacking the violence and hatred that seeks to create divisions.

The event will be interview based, and the audience will be invited to share questions from the floor. Join us for what is guaranteed to be a thought provoking and exclusive evening.

The event will be chaired by Remembering Srebrenica's Chariman, Dr. Waqar Azmi OBE
