Description

Our most sought-after open session is back!

Are you an employer or and educator within science, technology, engineering, maths or the built environment fields? Do you want to learn more about women in STEM, equality, diversity and inclusion? Join us for an afternoon of thought-provoking discussions and cake!

This workshop supports participants to reflect on the unconscious biases that we all hold and the assumptions we sometimes make. From the lens of underrepresentation of women in STEM, we will explore how biases may impact our interactions, decision-making processes, and review strategies for recognising and counteracting bias in the workplace.

This is an open session for employers and educators of all genders within STEM fields in Scotland (only 2 participants per organisation please).

In this session you will learn:

  • How and why we make choices/decisions about people
  • The role of unconscious bias and cultural influence
  • Where and how bias impacts on the workplace
  • Structural inequality and how it manifests in the workplace and occupational segregation
  • Recognising and counteracting bias

Feedback from last year’s session:

“It has given me tools that I can use to help educate others”

“Very useful insight and highlighted the scale of the problem.”

“Thank you for providing such a great resource for free”
