Event description
Unconscious bias describes the associations we hold, outside of our conscious awareness and control.

About this Event

This workshop explores the ideas of ‘fast’ and ‘slow’ thinking, the nature and types of bias, and how to begin to deal with our unconscious biases. Also, it looks at how you can overcome your unconscious bias to improve decision making and professional relationships, to create more open, inclusive and effective organisations covering:

• Diversity and Inclusion, what does it mean?

• What is Unconscious Bias?

• Why it happens?

• What does this mean in the workplace?

• Common Biases

• How decision making is affected

• How to minimise the risk of unconscious bias

• Strategies for creating a more inclusive working environment

We encourage participation in this workshop from people managers to start with, but welcome all staff. Those involved in recruitment and selection are strongly advised to attend and it will particularly benefit staff who are involved in supporting learners, individuals who chair meetings/panels or committees, and those dealing with performance management and absence management.
