Event description

Description

The Publishers Association is hosting an afternoon workshop led by expert Femi Otitoju, Training Director of Challenge Consultancy, to provide publishers with the knowledge and skills they need to minimise the impact of unconscious bias on their decision-making.

This workshop uses real-life examples and interactive exercises to ensure the participants develop practical strategies to reduce personal and organisational unconscious bias. Participants will takeaway the ability to:

  • Explain the concept of unconscious bias
  • Describe the relationship between implicit association, unconscious bias, language, stereotypes and attitudes and behaviour
  • Recognise the impact of unconscious bias on staff attainment and creative output
  • Empower staff to challenge processes which leave decision making vulnerable to unconscious bias
  • Address micro-messaging arising from unconscious bias
  • Develop a strategy for individual action

This workshop will be suitable for all staff and is particularly relevant for Human Resource professionals, Learning and Development specialists, managers of all levels, and recruiters.

A charismatic and inspirational leader, Femi is a diversity and inclusion specialist with a career spanning over 30 years. Combining a scientific background with persuasive and engaging training skills, Femi is often described as a “gifted presenter”.
