Event description

Description

A literary reading and q&a part of the Uncovered Voices project and Book Week Scotland.

According to White Ribbon Scotland, 45% of women in the UK have experienced some form of domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking. And at least 80,000 women suffer rape every year. There are thousands of stories out there waiting to be told.

Following a series of professional creative writing workshops offered to survivors of sexual and domestic abuse, the Uncovered Voices project is producing an anthology that will challenge stereotypes; allow survivors to take ownership of their stories; and create a mulit-faceted portrait of abuse.

On Tuesday the 28th of November, you are invited to The Glad Café to hear a selection of the writing produced by survivors in these workshops. These readings will be followed by a q&a discussion of the Uncovered Voices project and of how creative writing can be used as a tool for healing and empowerment.
