Our autumn series of meetings will continue this Wednesday evening at 19:30 in the Société Members' Room in Pier Road with a presentation by Dr Sam Salmon, His presentation will be on his research, in the 1980s, on the igneous intrusions in the Sorel Point area.
The presentation will introduce the variety of igneous rocks at Sorel Point, the complex physical and chemical interactions between them and the tectonic setting in which they were produced
Dr Salmon is visiting the Island to donate all of his research documentation and associate materials to the Société and we are very fortunate that he has agreed to present his research to the Section. His work on the North West granites, as reported in his PhD thesis and publications, provided insights into processes associated with the diorites and granites and is probably the most important contribution to our understanding of plutonic intrusive rocks in Jersey in modern times.
This promises to be a very interesting and instructive presentation. I look forward to seeing you all in the Members Room at 7:30 pm on Wednesday evening
All welcome
