Event description

Description

Development pressure is being felt today in many smaller settlements for new housing or employment sites as the economy continues to grow. This seminar-workshop will look at the historical form, function and landscape setting of small towns, villages and hamlets and how to actively plan for the future.

With developers and land owners keen to promote specific sites, are there better, more place-sensitive ways to assess the suitability of what is being built where? What factors can positively shape the form of new development? Which criteria can have weight in the planning system and will help to support a settlement’s sense of place? This session includes a hands-on workshop and case studies on how to do this in practice.

This HTVF event will be of interest to neighbourhood planning groups, local authority councillors and officers, civic and amenity groups, and developers and consultants to the development industry. See our website for the programme details: http://www.htvf.org/News/
