Understanding Addiction: A continuing professional development (CPD) workshop with Carolyn McDonald
What is Understanding Addiction?
This workshop will be looking at what addiction means to us as individuals and society in general. Participants will discuss some of the fears and taboos that we hold regarding addiction. It will also look at where the boundaries are regarding coaching and the support individuals and their families’ need to move away from their addiction.
Background of Tutor:
Carolyn has worked within the addiction field for over 20 years. She has been a CEO of a Central London Addiction Centre, developed children and family services for those impacted by addiction and worked with, and within, the criminal justice, statutory health and the not for profit sectors. Carolyn has also worked with the Office of Children’s Commissioner as lead researcher on a large-scale research project regarding the impact of parental alcohol misuse. She is a Barefoot Coaching alumna and holds a private practice where she combines strategic and operational consultancy with coaching.
How will this topic improve my coaching?
Addiction is a subject that affects many individuals and family members. This topic will support you to recognise what can and cannot be achieved within the coaching environment. It will also give you the ability to know where to signpost both individuals and family members to get the dedicated support they need.
