About this Event

Workshop: Understanding and Identifying Coercive Control

Speaker: Zoey Pether, Swindon Domestic Abuse Support Service (SDASS)

Date: Saturday 8th May 2021

Time: 9.30am - 3.00pm

Training Type: Live Webinar (facilitated on Zoom)

Hosted by: Willows Counselling Service, Swindon

CPD: 5 Hours

About the Workshop:

This one-day workshop will develop your understanding of Domestic Abuse and its varying types and presentations. It will focus on Coercive Control and enable you to identify coercively controlling behaviours.

We will consider how to work with clients who have or are experiencing coercive control and how to work with those who do not yet recognise these behaviours for themselves. Finally, we will look at the Coercive Control as a criminal offence and when we might signpost clients for additional support.

We will consider the following questions:

• What is Coercive Control?

• How might such behaviours become normalised?

• How can I explore Coercive control with clients?

About the Speaker:

Zoey Pether is the Health Service and Training Manager for Swindon Domestic Abuse Support Service (SDASS).

Since joining the organisation in 2015 as a Health Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA), Zoey has further qualified in Sexual Violence and Abuse, Domestic Abuse and Older People, Stalking and Harassment, Coercive Control, and Level 2 & 3 Counselling.
