Event description

Description

Risk awareness is vital for those who work with archival collections, in order to ensure that irreplaceable documents remain accessible for years to come.

This event aims to explore the concept of risk in the archives from a variety of perspectives, with presentations touching upon legal, academic, institutional and storage-related challenges. As well as developing an improved understanding of archival risks, participants will also have the opportunity to share and explore strategies to manage and mitigate potential issues.

This event is jointly sponsored by the Higher Education Archive Programme (HEAP) and the Records at Risk Steering Group (RRSG).

This seminar is also part of the programme of events arranged to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Royal Warrant that established the Historical Manuscripts Commission (HMC) whose responsibilities since 2003 have been vested in the Chief Executive of The National Archives.
