Understanding and Supporting Communication
Overview
Please note that, due to our funding, our workshops are only open to parents/carers/professionals who live or work in South Gloucestershire (or who have a child at school in South Glos). Your child doesn't need a diagnosis for you to attend.
Communication is how we pass on and receive messages from other people. We may communicate through words, through noises (a whoop of celebration), through gestures or hand movements (a nod or a wave).
Children with communication difficulties may not understand what is being asked of them, leaving them frustrated and confused. They might have difficulties at home and school in following instructions, organising their work and expressing how they feel and what they need.
In this workshop we will:
🟡Look at signs that a child is struggling with communication.
🟡Look at how communication difficulties impact other areas of children's lives.
🟡Share strategies and ideas to help support communication
This 3-hour session is for families with children aged 0 - 25 and will be delivered ONLINE via Zoom. The main workshop and presentation will be around 2 hours long and is recorded and there will be plenty of (unrecorded) time at the end for further discussion around the subject.
