Event description
This training aims to help you understand traumatic grief and how to work safely whether as a counsellor or a pastoral carer.

About this event

Trauma and grief are familiar subjects for many counsellors and for some involved in pastoral care, but often they are thought of and trained as separate topics. In life however, they are often experienced together and impact each other.

This training will draw from understandings and a therapeutic process developed after the 9/11 attacks and on-going research into both grief and trauma to develop an understanding of traumatic grief and how to work safely whether as a counsellor or a pastoral carer.

Specifically, we will explore a model called EMERGE, which aims to transform traumatic grief by bringing comfort, processing safely, promoting resilience and creating the potential for hope. The sessions will include a teaching, demonstrations and practically trying the tools and techniques.
