Welcome to the Understanding Asset-based Community Development (ABCD) free online workshop event! Join Voice4Change-England to learn about leveraging community strengths and assets to promote positive change. This interactive session will explore the principles and practices of ABCD, equipping you with the knowledge and tools to empower your community.
Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) is a strengths-based approach that focuses on what a community already has, rather than focusing on deficits or needs.
The following will be addressed in the workshop:
- Introduce the core principles of ABCD
- Why ABCD Matters
- Highlight the relevance and power of ABCD within BME communities
- Encourage participants to identify and map existing assets within their communities
The following learning outcomes will be achieved after attending this workshop:
- Understand how ABCD can amplify the voice of BME VCSE organisations in local decision-making spaces
- Recognise and map community assets and use these assets to increase visibility and influence
- Create an actionable ABCD strategy to mobilise community assets and effectively engage in local decision-making forums
- Apply ABCD principles to real-life scenarios for amplifying voices and gaining influence in local policies
