About this course

This qualification is designed for learners who wish to develop an understanding of autism and how to support individuals with autism.

This qualification aims to:

develop learners’ understanding of autism and the principles of supporting individuals with autism - covering the person-centred approach and influence of positive communication methods, how to support positive behaviour and how individuals with autism can be supported to live healthy and fulfilled lives.

The objective of this qualification is to help learners to:

progress within employment in a variety of sectors, and in a number of job roles where an understanding of autism and knowledge of how to support people with autism is required.

This qualification is designed for learners who wish to develop an understanding of Autism and how to support individuals with autism. To be awarded the Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism, learners are required to successfully complete 6 mandatory units.

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to:

Level 3 Diploma for the Children's Workforce (Early Years Educator)
Level 3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care
Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England
Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (England)
Level 3 Award in Supporting Children and Young People with Autism
Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support Services
Level 3 Diploma in Clinical Healthcare Support

It may also be useful to learners studying qualifications in the following sectors:

healthcare
social care
leisure
education
early years
voluntary.

As this course is online, a suitable device such as laptop, smart phone, tablet or computer will be required to access the course. The link for you to join the live sessions will be sent to you once your enrolment has been completed.

Booking your place and fee information

To secure your place on the course BOTH the following must be done:

Complete the EVENTBRITE BOOKING.
Complete our INSPIRE ONLINE ENROLMENT FORM for each person attending the course.

You should be redirected to the Inspire Online Enrolment Form after completing the Eventbrite booking. If you are not redirected, please use the link supplied in the Eventbrite booking confirmation email.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).

As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:

Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield
Cambridgeshire and Peterborough
Greater London
Greater Manchester
Liverpool City Region
Newcastle Upon Tyne, North Tyneside and Northumberland

1) FREE - if you earn less than £25,000 gross salary or are on a means-tested benefit.

2) PAYMENT HELP AVAILABLE - if you earn more than £25,000 (annual gross salary) but are on a low-income, we might be able to help pay part or all of your course fees. Email: learning@inspireculture.org.uk for an application form or if you have any questions.

3) CO-FUNDED - if you are on a higher-income, the government will pay approximately half of your course fees.
