About this event

  • Event lasts 4 hours

Chemsex refers to the use of certain drugs to enhance or prolong sexual experiences, predominantly among men who have sex with men – and the health, social, and emotional impacts it can have.

This session is aimed at anyone in the general public who wants to learn more. Whether you're concerned about someone you know, involved in community support, or just want to better understand this complex issue, you're very welcome.

We’ll hear from a range of expert speakers, including people working in sexual health, harm reduction, and research, who will share their insights and experiences around chemsex, the substances commonly involved, and strategies to reduce harm.

Topics covered will include:

  • What is chemsex and why does it happen?
  • Substances commonly used (such as GHB, crystal meth, mephedrone)
  • Physical and mental health impacts
  • The role of stigma and access to support
  • Harm reduction strategies and safer practices
  • Current research and community perspectives
