About this event

Science & Tech • Science

Have you heard about climate change but not sure what it all means? Maybe you know something about it but aren’t sure if there is anything you can do about it. Or, maybe you are already doing what you can and would like to meet others that are in a similar position.

Join Going Wild in Bishop's Cast;e for an informative, fun and interactive 3-hour workshop to discover what is happening to our planet, why it is happening and what you can – and can’t – do about it.

This is an opportunity to meet other people that share your concerns, hear what is happening in your local area and learn how you can get involved with your community.

All information shared in the workshop is from the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) and is scientifically agreed facts.

Here's what will be covered:

1) Head: Collaborate in groups to organise 42 cards from the IPCC reports. The key drivers, mechanisms, and impacts of climate change will be explored, using the cards to address misconceptions and answer questions.

2) Heart: Reflect on insights gained from the activity.

3) Hands: As our spheres of influence are examined, take the time to create action plans that clarify what you can do and why it’s important. Information on various organisations and resources that can support you on this journey will be provided, and the opportunity will be taken to to learn from one another.

Light refreshments will be available throughout the workshop.

Feedback from previous participants:

'That was so much better than I expected, I learned loads! I would really recommend this to anyone interested- actually just anyone’.

The facilitator was really good at guiding us through the science. It was interesting to hear how other people feel- I am not alone

I didn't realise so much of the science stuff- a lot of it was new- especially the pathway about the oceans. I really enjoyed it- thank you!'
