While exact prevalence rates are difficult to ascertain, existing data and case studies underscore a strong association between trauma, including relational trauma, and increased vulnerability to going missing, criminal exploitation, and involvement in serious youth violence among children and young people in the UK. Addressing these issues necessitates trauma-informed interventions and support systems tailored to the unique needs of these individuals.
This workshop will be a full day (9.30 - 3.30pm) and provide attendees with a biopsychosocial understanding of trauma, with a focus on how this can impact interventions offered to children and young people. The aim of this workshop will be to enhance attendees' understanding of how the minds and bodies of the young people are affected by trauma, to consider ways in which to adapt services and interventions to be more trauma informed and to consider interventions to support these children.
The workshop is designed for all professionals who are working with children and young people who may have been exposed to repeated experiences of trauma. The workshop will be facilitated by a HCPC registered Psychologist with extensive experience in this field and are aimed to be opportunities for discussions, reflections and will be space to ask questions about the application of all discussions.
Please note the minumum number of sign ups for this session to run is 20. If less than 20 people are signed up in advance of the session, it will be cancelled.
