Event description

Description

“Research data management concerns the organisation of data, from its entry to the research cycle through to the dissemination and archiving of valuable results.” (Whyte, A., Tedds, J. 2011)

The activities involved can include; planning, documenting, formatting, storing, anonymising, licencing and controlling access to the data.

During this session we will discuss why data management is important and we will cover the above activities and more when we look at data management best practice.

We will also consider the merits of making research data openly available, tell you how you can get a DOI for your data and will give you an overview of funder requirements when it comes to data management plans.

This session is for you if:

  • You work with research data
  • You write data management plans
  • You are a PhD student and want to get data management right from the start
  • You are an early career researcher and want to know more about open access data
  • You are a PI and want to set some data management ground rules
  • You spend too much time looking for your own data and want guidance on how best to organise it
