Event Details

This one-day course is designed for people who may be working with, or coming into contact with people who have sensory loss. The day offers simulation opportunity, practical exercises, lecture and discussion.

This course is suitable for practitioners working with children or adults. To ensure the course is as relevant as possible, we run the course with either a child or adult focus, so please check when you are booking.

Course aims

Participants will be able to understand the issues around communication, mobility and the environment for deafblind people. They will increase their skills and effectiveness in supporting a deafblind person.

Course content

  • Information on sight and hearing loss, and the impact of dual sensory loss
  • The range and types of communication, including deafblind manual
  • Mobility and practical skills in sighted guide techniques
  • Identifying environmental issues and using assistive technology

Course fees

Cost per delegate £75
This course can be commissioned at a cost of £750 for up to 20 people

Course times: 9.30am - 4.30pm

Course fees are payable either by credit card or invoiced. Please select the appropriate method on the registration page (credit card is set as the default).

Terms and conditions

  1. Cancellation: Fees for non attendance are non-refundable. If your place is cancelled up to 48-hours before the course then 50 per cent of the course fees will be refundable. Fees for places that are cancelled with less than 48-hours notice are non-refundable.
  2. Each individual case will be taken into account and it may be possible to transfer fees to a future course / alternative course
  3. If the course is cancelled by Sense due to unforeseen circumstances, a future booking will be offered
  4. If following submittal of your booking form and payment the course becomes full we will offer you a full refund or the option of transferring to a future or alternative course.
