Description

UNDERSTANDING DEMENTIA

Led by Lynne Kentish of the Contented Dementia Trust. The first step towards lifelong well-being: an introduction to the SPECAL® Method, for everyone who knows and cares for someone with dementia

The SPECAL® method offers a simple way of understanding how dementia is experienced by the person with the condition. This short presentation shows how the introduction of simple SPECAL skills can change life for the better for the person with dementia and everyone concerned with their well-being.

The three hour session will cover:

  • The SPECAL Photograph Album understanding of dementia

  • How normal memory works

  • The impact of ageing

  • The single, dramatic change introduced by dementia

  • SPECAL’s Three Golden Rules for communication

The event costs £5. If you are a minister (clergy, Reader, LLM or Elder), you may use your CMD grant and attend for free. More information from Lesley Steed at lesley.steed@cofesuffolk.org or 01473 298510.
