On the 4th of February 2014, we are hosting a phenomenal educational conference creatively geared to empower faith communities to respond effectively and efficiently to Domestic Violence and Abuse(DVA) cases that occur in their environments. It will be held at The Nishkam Centre, 6 Soho Road, Handsworth, Birmingham, B21 9BH, from 9.30am to 4.30pm. Registration is at 9.am. This event is ideal for multi-faith leaders, members of multi-faith communities, statutory service workers, academics, survivors of DVA, politicians, and professionals who work with victims and perpetrators of DVA. We strongly encourage you to attend the full conference for maximum benefit.
Our aim is to enhance understanding on the plight and struggles of victims of DVA in faith communities, which is normally worsened by untold difficulties they experience. Furthermore, we have prepared to deploy education on how to boldly and radically work with perpetrators of DVA, who are the key agents of DVA. Any work with perpetrators of DVA needs significant measures that place the safety of adult and child victims as a priority.
We will also deploy education on the impact of DVA on children in faith communities, and the challenges that they too face. Effective work with child survivors of DVA promotes their development in all dimensions, especially spiritually, psychologically and emotionally. Expect to leave the conference equipped, educated and empowered on how to assist adult and child victims in faith communities, while working effectively with perpetrators.
Our vision is to see faith communities transforming into fortresses of refuge and practical resources for adult and child victims and survivors, in a manner that does not compromise their safety and restoration. We also purpose to assist faith communities to become facilitators of the crucial work required in the positive transformation of perpetrators.
We therefore warmly invite you to join us at this significant event in Birmingham's super diverse society, which will have an impact on the whole Midlands region. Book your place and invite others to join you. You are welcome to advise us of your dietary requirements.
