About this event

Understanding Family and Carers Engagement and Addressing any Barriers.

“At the heart of any support work with parents/carers and their families is the need for a positive and empowering relationship between all those involved, based on mutual respect”. Research in Practice

Working with families and carers can sometime be challenging for them and for the practitioners involved, depending on the circumstance. During this session we will share an understading of participation, the barriers to this and how we can affectively engage with the people our services work with.

This session will cover:

· How professionals can support engagement.

· An awareness of the barriers to engagement including for example, disgused non-compliance.

· Understanding of the Change Cycle theory and the Three Emotional Regulation systems.

· The role of Relationship-based practice in engagement.

· What the impact of a lack of engagement can have on indivuals and families.

· What Learning Reviews have highlighted about engagement.

Facilitators:
Fiona Milne - Senior Practitioner, Child Protection CFJ
Jordan Burns - Social Worker, Justice, CFJ
Aileen Burness – Development Officer, PPA, CFJ

** This session is aimed at professionals across all areas of service and will reflect a protecting people stance.**
