    This course is being held virtually via Microsoft Teams!

    This workshop aim to help you understand some of the processes involved with grief, seek to dispel some of the misunderstandings surrounding communicating with the bereaved and will describe some of the ways to sensitively approach conversations to establish trust.

    • This is a dedicated link for your person and cannot be used by another person. If you are unable to attend, please let us know in the first instance.
    • To attend this course you must have a camera and have it turned on throughout the duration of the 1 hour online discussion for the comfort and safety of you, the other delegates and the trainers. We have the right to turn you away if you do not have your camera on. (laptop/computer recommended for more comfortable viewing and participation)

    Course Programme:

    This course is delivered as an eLearning package which is to be completed online before attending a virtual group video discussion. The eLearning must be completed before attending a virtual group video chat with the trainers on the date booked, as the discussion is based around the eLearning completed.

    To access the video chat session with your trainers it is vital that you have access to a microphone, webcam, and Microsoft Teams.

    Please note, to obtain a certificate of attendance you need to complete both the eLearning and the virtual group discussion.

    Now that we are delivering training virtually we routinely ask all delegates to provide us with a contact telephone number that can be used to reach them on the day they are attending the training. This is for the following reason

    • In the event of connection troubles for the trainers and/or delegates so they are able to contact all delegates and explain the next steps if necessary

    Overview:

    This course involves individual e-learning and an online discussion with a Specialist Palliative care lead and Health Improvement Practitioner to enable you to begin to explore and understand the myths and barriers around talking about death and dying, how we can start to explore this and find ways to communicate and support those who are going through the process of dying and those around them, as well as supporting through the bereavement process. This course will also give you opportunities to find out how to signpost to other agencies and local supports.

    Whilst this is not a counselling session, we do take the wellbeing and emotional safety of all our training participants very seriously. Grief and bereavement can be an emotive subject. The trainers have a key role In supporting participants during the training, so whilst you are reading the material, if the material brings up uncomfortable or distressing feelings, please speak to one of the trainers.

    Learning Outcomes:

    These workshops aim to help you understand some of the processes involved with grief, seek to dispel some of the misunderstandings surrounding communicating with the bereaved and will describe some of the ways to sensitively approach conversations to establish trust.

    By the end of the session we hope you feel more confident about supporting someone who is grieving.

    There will be time to reflect on your own feelings with each other and professionals who are passionate about caring for people who are approaching the end of their lives and their families, friends and carers.
