What's it about?
Homelessness is the real human cost of the housing crisis fuelled by the cost of living. Record numbers of households in Wales are facing housing insecurity and homelessness.
This introductory course, delivered jointly with Shelter Cymru, will give you an insight into homelessness in Wales, including the key trends, causes of homelessness and people affected. It will also explain the key elements of the legal homelessness duties and the organisations involved.
What you'll learn
By attending this course, you’ll gain:
- Understanding of what is meant by the term homelessness and the different forms which it can take
- Insights into the key trends of homelessness today in Wales
- Knowledge of the causes of homelessness and it’s prevalence amongst different groups of people
- Awareness of the legal duties in place with regards to homelessness aw says and the organisations involved in providing homelessness services.
The training will be delivered in English via Teams.
Who should attend?
The course will be of interest to anyone who is starting work in the housing and homelessness sector, as well as the many organisations, from public bodies to charities who work alongside housing organisations or hear about the impact of homelessness on the people they work with.
It will also be useful for people working within governmental institutions and agencies who want to understand how homelessness fits into the wider policy landscape.
