Event description

Description

Sarbjit Kaur Athwa became the first person within a family connected with an 'honour' killing to testify in open court in tthis country. She went on to found the charity True Honour which supports victims of 'honour' based violence, forced marriage, and female genital mutilation, especially those from South Asian communities. Speaking alongside her is former Detective Chief Inspector Dr Clive Driscoll, who was the policeman who dealt with her case, and is now Vice-Chair of the charity.

This is a unique opportunity to hear about an issue that is distant for most of us, but a terrible reality for a small but significant number of British women, and about what can be done to minimise the risk and help victims.

Capacity is limited, so it's essential to register. The event is free and open to everyone. But we will ask for voluntary donations in aid of 'True Honour' (students aren't expected to donate).

Doors open 7.00pm for 7.30pm start.
