This training explores the complex and evolving concept of identity and how it relates to children in foster care. Fostered children often experience a sense of disconnection or confusion about who they are, where they come from, and where they belong.
Through this session, we’ll look at:
- What identity means and why it matters in foster care
- The impact of trauma, separation, and care experience on identity development
- How foster carers can support children to understand, express, and feel confident in their identity
- Practical tools and approaches to help children stay connected to their heritage, culture, and personal story
This training will offer insight, reflection, and guidance to support children in building a strong and positive sense of self.
