About this event

Government • National Security

The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2005 or also known as Martyn’s Law is a legal requirement for businesses and organisations responsible for publicly accessible spaces. It introduces mandatory security measures to prepare for and respond to potential terrorist threats. The law was created by Figen Murray in tribute to her son, Martyn Hett, who was tragically killed alongside 21 others in the Manchester Arena terrorist attack in 2017. The law will be relevant to any public accessible building with a capacity of 200 or more which includes shops, restaurants, nightclubs, cinemas, theatres, arenas, sports grounds, libraries, museums, conference centres, visitor attractions, hotels, places of worship, hospitals, education institutions and outdoor events spaces.

This is a unique opportunity to hear from Figen herself as well as to find out more details about the law and how you can prepare your business moving forward. Also a chance to hear from other security experts across the region and network with like minded businesses.
