About this event

Speakers: Simonne Gnessen and Jeanine Connor

Venue: ONLINE via Zoom and CATCH-UP for 28 days.

Event Description:

Money is one of the biggest causes of stress. It plays an important part in our lives, yet we rarely pay much attention to the relationship we have with it.

In this one-day workshop, Simonne Gnessen and Jeanine Connor will help us explore the hidden dynamics often at play within the complex relationship people have with money.

Morning Session: Understanding our Relationship with Money

In the morning session Simonne Gnessen will use case studies and reflective exercises to help us gain insights to understand the unconscious meanings, emotions and beliefs that influence our attitude to money and drive behaviour.

In this session you will gain a deeper understanding of different money perspectives and patterns within your work with clients, while also gaining awareness of your own narrative and beliefs around money and how they may influence your therapeutic practice or conflict with your pricing strategies.

You will learn tools and strategies to improve your therapeutic work in supporting clients navigating money issues and explore ways to help transform your own relationship with money.

Afternoon Session: Therapy – What’s it Worth?

In the afternoon session, Jeanine Connor will facilitate discussion and hold a supervisory space to explore how money shows up in – and is kept out of – the therapy room. The balance between providing a wellbeing service and running a business can be a tricky one to navigate, especially when we are aware of our clients own financial struggles in the context of the prevailing cost of living crisis.

Money shows up in therapy in many guises, illustrating our and our client’s relationship to it, both unconscious and deliberate. We will explore fee structures, invoicing, cancellations, late payments, expenses and investments. We will ask (and attempt to formulate answers to) questions around how much we and our clients think therapy is worth, which also contains questions about how much we think we are worth, and other awkward ‘money in therapy’ questions.

Audience participation is greatly encouraged to create a collaborative, dynamic and engaging learning space.

This workshop is suitable for practitioners of any modality, and therapists who are very experienced or newly qualified are equally welcomed.
