Event description

Description

Research suggests (eg Wilkins et al, 2015) students are more likely to engage with academic processes if they adopt identities as social learners into their own self-concept. Social identity theory can also be influential in the students' sense of belonging and this is likely also to impact on their success in achieving learning outcomes.

This seminar will consider theoretical perspectives on social identity and self-categorisation with a view to how we might enhance our understanding of our students and in order to promote active and social student engagement.
