If you want or need to know more about working with children and young people who have PDA in an education or other setting, this half day workshop is a MUST!

Understanding Pathological Demand Avoidance

During this training we will pull back the curtain on this misunderstood condition.  In particular, you will:

  • Gain a greater understanding of the meaning of Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA).

  • Know more about the impact PDA has on a child, teenager or young adult and how they might be supported.

  • Get to know the key principles of positive behaviour management when working with children, teenagers and young adults with PDA.

  • Recognise the effects that PDA has on learning and understand how to reduce the impact of this.

The trainer for this programme is Karen Ferguson, an autism and PDA champion, who has worked extensively with children and young people with high functioning autism, Asperger’s syndrome and PDA, in both mainstream and SEN learning environments.
