Event description
Join Dr Jessica Taylor for this session on understanding real trauma informed theory and practice

About this event

Join Dr Jessica Taylor in a critical examination of the phrase “trauma-informed” and how this has become something of a buzzword in practice.

Dr Taylor utilises a trauma-informed and strengths-based approach in all of her work and research, and will be discussing what it means to be truly trauma-informed, from theory to practice.

Key topics:

• Exploring what is really meant by trauma-informed and strengths-based practice

• Understanding the most up to date research and theories on trauma-informed practice

• Comparing the medical model versus the strengths-based model

• Finding ways to change the way we think about people with histories of cumulative trauma in order to reduce stigma, labelling, victim blaming and shame

Suitable for:

Anyone with an interest in exploring and understanding different ways to work with adults and children who have been traumatised. Professionals, volunteers and members of the public are welcome.

This event is part of the VictimFocus open training programme.
