Aims of the course:

This course aims to:

Explore young children’s learning and development through the identification
and understanding of their schemas;
Consider how schematic development may be nourished;
Investigate how adults may accompany children in learning environments to nurture schematic development.


Suitable for:

Practitioners working with young children under five years of age.  


This course will address the essential skills and practice to:

  • Identify how young children may pursue their schemas;

  • Understand children’s particular patterns of thinking;

  • Respond conceptually to children in learning encounters.


You will leave with:

  • A better understanding of different kinds of schemas;

  • Insight into how young children may pursue their schemas in an early years, or home environment;

  • A better understanding of how to accompany children as they pursue their schemas.
