NITE's free professional development series offers short, impactful sessions led by experienced educators to support the professional growth of teachers and school leaders.
Join us for a webinar designed specifically for aspiring and early career teachers led by Sonia Mathias, Associate Lecturer on NITE’s MA in Education. This session will be exploring the foundations of SEND provision and what every teacher needs to know in order to provide effective support for all learners. It will give you the confidence to understand and apply the key principles of inclusion, recognise the four broad categories of SEND, and be clear on your responsibilities within the classroom and the wider school.
During the session, you will explore the core principles that underpin high-quality SEND provision and the responsibilities of teachers in meeting the needs of learners with SEND, both individually and as part of a whole-school approach. You will investigate practical strategies for adapting teaching and creating inclusive learning environments from the start of your career.
By the end of the session, you will have learnt how to identify and understand the key categories of SEND. You will be aware of your professional responsibilities as a classroom teacher in supporting pupils with SEND and have practical approaches to inclusive practice that you can apply straight away in your classroom.
It is suitable for:
Trainee teachers - ECTs - recently qualified teachers - teachers with 1-3 years’ experience
Facilitator: Sonia Mathias
