Description

This course designed for parents and carers and will give you an in-depth understanding of sensory processing and how it can affect you child. Our special guest Alison Hart, the founder of Children’s Choice Therapy Service Ltd will be talking about the eight senses and how they affect us. This course will look at some of the neurology and theory behind Sensory Integration, and Sensory Processing Disorders. It will think about the senses (in a practical way) and explore a little how Sensory Processing Disorder can feel and can impact every day tasks, learning and behaviours. The course will begin to consider strategies and approaches to support our children with SPD.

This course is 4 hours long. Please bring a packed lunch with you. Drinks will be provided. The hall can sometimes be cold so please wear layers!

About Alison Hart

Alison Hart qualified in Occupational Therapy from Derby School of Occupational Therapy in 1993. Following various physical acute and oncology work, she commenced in Paediatrics in 2000, becoming lead Allied Health Professional for Children’s services within locality in 2003 until 2009. Alison is currently senior lecture practitioner at Derby University, as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and works independently with children and young people. Alison has an MSc in Occupational Therapy (community) and completed MSc module accreditation from Cardiff University for Sensory Integration.
