When you pick up your old Drug Tariff at the end of the month to throw it away, does it still smell new and unopened? If so, this 80 minute workshop is for you. It is a Powerpoint-free session where we will work in groups to answer questions on The Drug Tariff and gain an understanding of:
What’s a drug and what’s an appliance and why’s it important to know the difference?
-
How much will you be paid for generics listed in Part VIIIA?
-
The effect of the discount deduction scale.
-
Why some pharmacies use appliance contractors to dispense appliances in Part IX.
-
How much do you get paid for measuring and fitting a truss?
-
How branded generic prescribing costs the taxpayer more money and how the pharmacy global sum and category M work.
-
Some expensive dispensing mistakes and how to avoid them.
Bring along, a pen, a highlighter and a copy of the December Drug Tariff (don’t worry if you forget the Tariff as we’ll have spare copies). By the end of session, you should have a basic understanding of the principles that underpin the Tariff and where things are in the book. We can’t cover everything but will give you the confidence to start referring to the book regularly.
The trainer is Mark Donaghy who is the Chair of West Sussex LPC, works for Kamsons Pharmacy and has given training sessions on the Drug Tariff to community and hospital pre-regs and to CCGs.
This training is only for West Sussex pharmacy contractors and those regulary working in West Sussex pharmacies (pharmacists, owners, technicians, dispensing assistants and pre-regs) and is limited to a maximum of two people per pharmacy.
This meeting has been sponsored by AstraZeneca by the purchase of stand space only.
