Event description

Description

What is the workshop about?

The new European General Regulation on Data Protection takes effect in May 2018. This workshop looks at what the GDPR means for organisations and what they need to do.

What will it cover?

The workshop will look at what the GDPR does; and how it will change current UK data protection law. It will consider the effect these changes might have on VCSE and other third sector organisations; and what steps they should be taking to ensure compliance. The main emphasis will be on how organisations collect and process data in relation to their key stakeholders.

Outcomes

Participants will:

(a) Have improved understanding of the data protection principles.

(b) Be aware of their organisation’s duties, and the steps needed to ensure compliance with data protection law.

(c) Be more confident in applying best practice to data protection.

The trainer

The workshop will be run by David Green, director of Green Pepper Consulting. David has many years of experience dealing with employment relations, employment law and management issues, including in the area of data protection. He is also the trustee lead on data protection for a Leicestershire charity.
